Transforming Spaces for Future Generations
In a powerful demonstration of community collaboration and commitment to youth mentorship, the ARA Foundation and the Toro Company Foundation have teamed up to enhance the outdoor environment at Bolder Options, a nonprofit organization in Minneapolis dedicated to providing wellness-based mentoring for middle school youth. This project, which took place on July 29, 2025, involved a $20,000 grant, equipment donations, and the hard work of many local volunteers.
Volunteerism at Its Best
The event mobilized over 30 volunteers from various local rental companies, including Ditch Witch of Minnesota and Iowa and Crown Rental, as they embarked on a mission to undertake significant landscaping improvements. Volunteers built new above-ground garden beds, installed fences, and enhanced the overall aesthetic of the space, laying 44 yards of mulch and adding vibrant new plants to what once was a lifeless exterior.
Community Impact and Future Prospects
This initiative represents more than just a physical upgrade—it's about creating a safe and inspiring environment for youth. Darrell Thompson, president of Bolder Options, expressed gratitude for the transformation, saying, “The heroic face-lift to the building... looks wonderful and we are very grateful.” Programs like this underscore the importance of community involvement and proactive efforts to lay the groundwork for healthier, more engaged future generations.
Continuing the Momentum
The enhancement of the Bolder Options facility is a part of the broader ARA Foundation Community Impact Projects happening nationwide, aimed at enriching local communities through cooperative efforts. As these projects progress, they raise awareness about the essential role of mentorship in shaping the future.
This is a call to action for other organizations to consider how they might contribute to the improvement of their communities and support youth programs. Every small effort can lead to significant change.
